First Principles

The Philosophy

We believe:

  • Power corrupts when concentrated; distribute it
  • Representatives should be neighbors, not elites
  • Laws should be few, clear, and permanent
  • Taxation should be simple and stay in communities
  • The federal government exists to protect, not provide
  • Faith and community, not bureaucracy, should care for the vulnerable
  • America has enough wealth for everyone to live with dignity
  • The simplest solution is usually correct (Occam’s Razor)
  • Technology should enable accountability, not surveillance
  • Citizens should serve briefly, then return to normal life
  • Different minds are an asset to be equipped, not a defect to be managed
  • AI cognitive assistance is an accessibility tool, like a hearing aid

Cognitive Accessibility

The world wasn’t built for every brain.

Neurodivergent people - autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and others - have been told they’re broken. They’re not. They’re running different operating systems.

The pattern-recognizing mind that sees a structure before it can explain it is an asset. Most institutions treat it as a problem to be managed.

The problem:

  • Schools punish different learning styles
  • Workplaces demand neurotypical performance
  • “Accommodations” mean being treated as broken
  • Brilliant minds wasted because they couldn’t sit in meetings

The Decentralist position:

Neurodivergence is not a bug. It’s a feature. Society should accommodate different minds, not suppress them.

AI changes the equation.

For the first time there is a tool that can work the way these minds work:

  • Keeps pace with fast pattern recognition
  • Doesn’t judge tangents - follows them
  • Provides structure without rigidity
  • Doesn’t require masking or performing neurotypical
  • A cognitive partner, not a crutch

The policy:

AI cognitive assistance should be recognized as an accessibility tool - like hearing aids, like wheelchairs, like screen readers.

  • Insurance coverage for AI assistance for diagnosed neurodivergent individuals
  • ADA recognition of AI partners as reasonable accommodation
  • No gatekeeping - if you need it, you get it
  • Employer accommodation requirements

This is not special treatment. This is equal access.

A hearing aid lets a deaf person participate. AI assistance lets a neurodivergent person participate. Same principle.

The goal: people the system wrote off, equipped instead of contained. Not cured. Equipped.

We reject:

  • Career politicians
  • Concentrated power
  • Complex systems designed to hide corruption
  • The premise that more laws solve problems
  • The idea that Washington knows best
  • The partisan circus that distracts from structural failure
